BLOG Crush

Yet another girl crush. Style/blog/closet/shoe crush. Everything crush. Bee from Atlantic-Pacific has some serious style & can be noted as a "layering genius". Dare I say she puts Carrie Bradshaw & Cupcakes & Cashmere to shame...? I know where I stand, but I'll give you a few (or ten) pictures to decide for yourself. You have no idea how badly I wish she was my stylist/friend/personal shopper!!

I cannot help but want to do a complete overhaul on my closet after raiding BEE's blog. Few things I love most about her: red lips - yes! (everytime I wear my NARS redlipstick I join the BGC (bad girls club) - not kidding). Nerd glasses :) You know I have a soft spot in my heart for these. Bangles/baubles/bracelets piled high upon a big 'ol gold watch. Love.

If you haven't bookmarked Atlantic-Pacific - do.it.now.  (& thank me later!)

Wedges Galore

I have a girlfriend, whom I will not name, who hates wedges.  She doesn't own a single pair. I am BAFFLED by this! Hopefully with the help of this year's greatest wedge collection, I'll swing her over from the dark side onto the wedge-side.  I love pairing them with just about everything. Wide leg / trouser jeans, skinny jeans, rompers, shorts, skirts, dresses....you name it. Shockingly enough, I've actually found a few decently priced pairs to covet...& of course a few that are a bit more expensive...

I'm all about the espadrille wedge with the ankle strap. (No seriously, just wait) These are Kelsey by Kelsey Dagger, come in three colors & are only $65! Check them out here

...Stuart.Weitzman.Is.Genius. ...I would die for these babies, & 100% willing to shell out $398 for them.

Very similiar to S.Weitzman's "Alex" sandal (which I tweet about on a weekly basis), these Aldo wedges are 1/6 (!!!) of the price ($50)

I love the hardware & the classic color of the Tory Burch Carys Wedge ($325). The leather looks as smooth as butter.

Mentioned here, I still love the Aldo Asidia Wedges ($80) ...& I still intend to buy them!

P.S. Please don't hesitate to email me if you'd like to donate to my wedge-fund.  It's looking pretty limp & I have a loooooong wishlist ;)

Two Favorites

Olivia Palermo & Tibi.  Tibi's summer collection are the things great vacations are comprised of.  Strolling through the streets & markets of St. Maarten, sipping cocktails in Montego Bay, & watching the sunset in Aruba.  (Can you tell I love the Caribbean?) I am secretly praying a few of my friends will choose to have a destination wedding on a white sandy beach so I may be provided with numerous excuses to purchase Tibi dresses for the occasions. A girl can dream right?

Naturally they chose the gorgeous&sophisticated Olivia Palermo as their spokesmodel.  She exemplifies everything Tibi represents.

I would wear this one to brunch, just prior to parking myself on a loungechair in the sun for the remainder of the afternoon.

I would wear this gorgeous silk maxi dress to a beach wedding reception, with my hair pulled back & earrings to die for.

...Can't go wrong with any of these anywhere.

Kelly Wearstler

Behold my newest design crush Kelly Wearstler:

I love her use of traditional silhouettes mixed with inviting colors & luxe fabrics. This chic has some seriously good taste in chairs.
Victorian stools & zebra hide rug? GIVEME.
Where.can.I.buy.this.gold.chair.

& how cute is Kelly herself? Ugh.  Why can't I be a chic inspired designer?

Alice + Olivia (again)

Yesterday I died & went to Saks Fifth Avenue heaven. Literally. There were endless amounts of silk tanks, chiffon tops, & heavenly blouses I would've snatched up in a moments' notice (had I been given access to Trump's bank account).  One ten-pound blouse managed to stick out in my mind long after leaving Saks.  ...Behold this beauty:

I wouldn't mind seeing more silk tops with heavy beading. As you can see the pattern is delicate, but the hardware is comprised of strong brass beads & chains.  I am so into it! I'm already planning outfits around this little number...must not succumb to the pressure to buy ..ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

MAXImum splendor

I am one happy camper after seeing maxi dresses making a big return this season.  Not everyone is a fan, & unfortunately that includes more than a handful of males I've met...but they're probably just jealous they can't wear a flowy gown in the summer with cute bangles, baubles,& belts like weee can!

Splendid always makes the best cotton apparel.  Their cotton jersey is always the softest pre-shrunk cotton that you just want to snuggle with. I love this Splendid racerback maxi dress ($98), & more so - I love the price!

I absolutely love the color of this Max & Cleo dress ($198) as well as the back detailing...& the embroidery on the front is so flattering.

Soft Joie Dorsey's tie dye maxi dress ($128) is made for my heart. I'm a sucker for color-blocking & ombre, what can I say.

If you're like me & you intend on living in maxi dresses all summer (from morning coffee..to the beach..to the bar..) you may want to stock up on these ($25!) - ofcourse Target has cute yet affordable maxis!

Drew

When I saw Drew wearing this outfit recently, something sparked inside me.  I don't know how, why, or what exactly "sparked" (other than a strong desire to shop)- but I am so.into.this.getup.

(Minus the shoe pairing.) Naturally I got right on the world wide web to purchase the two-tone denim shirt that I envisioned wearing with long jersey skirts, white denim jeans (& a big brown belt!) & a number of other things that would somehow justify this purchase. Wrong.  Outfit-fantasies came to a screeching halt when I discovered this little denim number is $278 (by Current/Elliott). Two hundred & seventy eight dollars for a denim shirt that I could probably pluck off some squirrely cowboy in the middle of Texas. My mother would have my head on a platter if I were to buy it. Saving my head, & my bank account - I found the look for less, ta da!

1. Ralph Lauren Rugby Skinny Chambray Workshirt $98
2. Aldo ALSIDIA Women's Wedges $80
3. James Perse Pull-On Maxi Skirt $145
4. Anthropologie Longeing Belt $48
5. Ray-Ban 3025 Aviator $139

Urban Home

Urban Home.  How have I not seen this before? I feel like I've been missing out on some seriously good finds...like the time I wanted to smack myself in the forehead when I stumbled upon Z Gallerie

Hi, mother of all beds.  Can I have you? You're ONLY $599, is that a typo?? No? Well in that case I'll take two.

Square tufted ottomans & Linen tufted benches only $139 a piece? You have to be kidding me .

.....Authentic cowhide - $249.  Compared to the $899 Neiman Marcus offers..

I am swooning over theeseeee!!! Notice the uncanny similarities of Urban Home's Lauren Bed $599 & Crate & Barrel's Colette Bed ($1,699)

I'm A Matchbook Girl

I have another recommendation ( I seem to be full of them lately sorry).  My favorite online design mag, Matchbook Magazine.
"Launched in January 2011, Matchbook is an online lifestyle publication celebrating classics - shaken and stirred. Our monthly issues cover past and present fashion, decor, the arts, travel and culture. Brimming with intriguing interviews, stately homes, captivating memoirs and swoon-worthy fashion spreads, matchbook seeks to inspire women around the globe to design a life they adore. From lipstick to letterpress, gelato to grosgrain, and Paris to Peru, consider us your field guide to a charmed life."
Hi, does that not have Alexandra Anderson written all over it? Of course I'm a fan!  You had me captivated at shaken and stirred. I have found a sneaky way to print this publication - thank goodness because this is my reading material for my commute.

"Don't fuss, dear; get on with it." - Audrey Hepburn

I have a hair obsession.  Born with the hair-gene, I am obsessive compulsive about my hair. The length, the health, the sheen, the frizz control, the texture......you name it.  I have curly hair, that I blow dry straight veryyy meticulously - ..daily.  In the summer I will let it run wild - but in the winter I prefer a sleek blowout with just enough curl at the ends & volume at the roots.  With hair products bad&good literally POLLUTING the market, my life & my hair has become a trial&error.  I have almost solidified my "must haves" in each category, but not quite.  Until then, here is my work in progress:

Straight Hair Days:
1. Deep conditioner. Essential to healthy ends.  I leave this miracle worker on the last 2 inches of my hair for 5 minutes & rinse.  Whoever created this deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. Seriously.  L'Oreal's EverSleek sulfate-free smoothing conditioner contains sunflower&olive oils to nourish hair for 48 hr frizz control.  ....It really does last 48 hours.

2.BedHead After Party. TIGI recommends working a dime-size amount between palms of hands & smoothing onto dry hair, which I'm sure works.........BUT I work a nickel sized amount into damp hair & blowdry smooth with a round brush. FYI - this product retails usually between $15-$20 in stores....order it offline. Save yourself the money - trust me.
Curly Unruly Haired Days:

3. Fekkai's Luscious Curl Enhancing Cream, a frizz-fighting styling lotion, is made specifically to enhance & sculpt curls on curly hair. "Frizz-fighting" is the key term here - it's my biggest problem, & it is this product's biggest asset.  I comb a nickel-sized amount through fairly wet hair, spray on my next product & walk out the door.  No joke. Easiest routine I've ever had in my life.

4. Bumble&Bumble Surf Spray.  There is MAGIC in this little bottle. Anyone can use this product.  It adds body to fine hair, texture to smooth hair, volume to flat hair. Enhances waves, gives waves, calms crazy curly hair. Ideally, you would spray a *few* squirts of this onto damp hair & either dry naturally or blow dry with a diffuser. Personally, I use it all the time.  After a 6 hour flight, this is the first thing I grab out of my bag to spritz into my hair to wake up dull lifeless locks. The less you touch your hair, the longer the surf spray will hold.

Volume:

5. Fekkai Full Volume Mousse, a secret formula developed to address the specific needs of different hair types. Adds lift to roots & texture to ends with a golf ball-sized dollop of this lightweight styling mousse. Builds body & volume, plumps Hair. I generally put one-pump's worth of mousse onto the roots of my hair at the crown of my head, & blowdry with a round brush, lifting the roots as I dry.

6. *That round brush I keep referencing? It's a Moroccan Oil 2 1/8" Round Brush. Made with Ceramic and Ionic properties, the Ceramic helps to retain heat better and to evenly and consistently distribute heat over a wider spectrum of frequencies, therefore reducing the total drying time. The ions found within the brush bristles repel water which also leads to faster drying time and act in a similar manner as a conditioner - smoothing the cuticle of each strand and resulting in shiny, healthy hair. Buy it - it works.
